Lagos PDP dissolves alliance with LP

THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State has declared that the alliance it entered into with the Labour Party, LP, has been dissolved.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos yesterday, the party’s chairman, Mr Moshood Salvador decried the conduct of last Saturday’s local government elections in the state, saying it was the worst in the history of election in Lagos State.

He said: “as explained at the previous conference that a political alliance in an agreement between two or more political parties for the purpose of elections. The council election has come and gone, I hereby declare that alliance is dissolved from this moment.”

Salvador alleged that that most ballot boxes “were not counted at the polling unit, as ballot boxes were taken to collation centers where no other party agents were allowed to enter, except APC agents.”

He said: “The APC government in Lagos have realised Lagosians don’t want them again, that was why they made use of thugs and guns to snatch ballot boxes. LASIEC also did not keep to their promise of free and fair election, the ruling party saw that they were going to be voted out, what was the need for the use of thugs to snatch ballot boxes?  That is where all the results were doctored, and votes were allocated to political parties for the returning officers to declare.”

He, however, faulted the emergency LASIEC laws passed by the Lagos State House of Assembly, saying: ”It did not follow the statutory processes in law making.”
